10 Actually Free Things to Do in Singapore

Singapore has plenty of attractions you can enjoy without buying an admission ticket. The strongest free options are places with published opening information, easy public access and enough to justify the trip even if you are not spending money nearby.

1. Gardens by the Bay outdoor gardens

Supertree Grove, Serene Garden, Heritage Gardens, World of Plants and the Dragonfly & Kingfisher Lakes are among the outdoor areas that can be visited free. 2. Sentosa Sensoryscape

Sensoryscape is a free 350-metre garden trail linking the Imbiah and Beach Station areas. The complimentary ImagiNite light experience runs in the evening, subject to weather or maintenance. Our Sensoryscape guide has the current timings and access notes.

3. Singapore Botanic Gardens

4. Marina Barrage Green Roof

The public areas around Marina Barrage and the Green Roof are a straightforward free option for skyline views, picnics and evening walks. Check PUB notices before travelling if weather is poor or you are planning around a special event.

5. Jewel Rain Vortex

The Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport is free to view from public areas. Jewel lists daily waterfall hours of 10am to 10pm, with evening Light & Music Showcase times. See our Rain Vortex guide before timing a night visit.

6. Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is open 24 hours and combines public gardens, heritage structures and free historical stops in the city centre. Our Fort Canning guide includes a simple first-visit route.

7. The Southern Ridges

The Southern Ridges link Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark and Kent Ridge Park across roughly 10km of green space. It is better approached as a walking route than a single attraction, so choose a shorter segment if the weather is hot.

8. Dragonfly & Kingfisher Lakes

If you want a quieter Gardens by the Bay experience, the lakes and 440-metre boardwalk are free and currently open from 5am to 2am daily.

9. Active Garden & PropNex Family Zone

This free waterfront area at Gardens by the Bay includes an inclusive playground, outdoor fitness equipment, musical instruments, lawns and a sensory trail. It is particularly useful for families who want a no-ticket stop near Bayfront.

10. Haw Par Villa — check access before going

Haw Par Villa's outdoor park has historically been free, but the attraction is currently affected by essential maintenance and an official closure/partial-closure notice. What changed from older free-attraction lists?

Bay East Garden is often listed as a 24-hour free attraction, but the Gardens by the Bay site currently says the garden is temporarily closed for development works, with only parts of the promenade remaining accessible. We have therefore removed it as a recommended standalone free attraction until the closure status changes.
