Fort Canning Park is a 22-hectare hilltop park in central Singapore with layers of history stretching from pre-colonial Singapore through the colonial period and World War II. The park itself is open 24 hours.
What you can see without a ticket
Outdoor features include historical gardens, colonial-era structures, sculptures and heritage markers. NParks also highlights the Fort Gate and the former cemetery and barracks areas among the park's heritage features.
Free galleries inside the park
The Fort Canning Heritage Gallery and Fort Canning Spice Gallery have their own operating hours. NParks lists the Heritage Gallery at Fort Canning Centre as open daily from 10am to 6pm, with a monthly maintenance closure.
Best MRT options
Fort Canning, Dhoby Ghaut and Clarke Quay MRT stations all serve different sides of the hill. Fort Canning MRT is convenient for River Valley Road, while Dhoby Ghaut is useful if you are combining the park with the museum and Bras Basah area.
Expect slopes and stairs
The park is a hill. If mobility is a concern, NParks notes wheelchair access from the Cox Terrace roundabout drop-off point, so plan your entry rather than relying on the nearest-looking staircase.
