Jewel Rain Vortex: Current Hours & Light Show Times

Jewel Changi Airport's Rain Vortex is the 40-metre indoor waterfall at the centre of Shiseido Forest Valley. It is free to view from Jewel's public areas, so you do not need a Canopy Park or attraction ticket simply to see the waterfall.

Current operating hours

Jewel currently lists the Rain Vortex as operating daily from 10am to 10pm. That makes a daytime visit easy to combine with a meal, an airport transfer or a longer stop at Jewel.

Light & Music Showcase times

The current official schedule lists shows at 8pm and 9pm from Monday to Thursday. From Friday to Sunday, on public holidays and on the eve of public holidays, there is an additional 10pm show. If the night show is the main reason for your visit, check Jewel's page again on the day in case of operational changes.

Best viewpoints

Upper public levels give you a wider view of the glass roof and the full 40-metre drop. Lower Forest Valley levels bring you closer to the base and make the scale feel more dramatic. If you have 20 to 30 minutes, walk around more than one level rather than stopping at the first railing.

Daytime or night?

Daytime is better if you want to appreciate the architecture and greenery with natural light. Night is better if you specifically want the Light & Music Showcase. For many visitors, the most efficient plan is to arrive before sunset, eat at Jewel, then stay for the first evening show.

If you are visiting before a flight

Jewel is landside and directly connected to Changi Airport, but it is not your departure gate. Leave enough time to return to the correct terminal, clear departure immigration and reach your gate. A night show should not be the final activity before a tight boarding window.

Rain Vortex vs Light & Music Showcase

The waterfall and the evening show are related but not the same thing. The Rain Vortex itself operates during its listed daytime and evening hours, while the Light & Music Showcase runs only at scheduled night-time slots. If you arrive in the afternoon you can still see the full waterfall; you simply will not see the projected light-and-music sequence.

That distinction is useful for tight airport itineraries. A daytime visit can be fitted around a meal or terminal transfer, while an evening visit needs to be planned around a specific show time.

How early should you arrive for a show?

If the showcase is your priority, arrive at the Rain Vortex area before the scheduled start rather than reaching Jewel at the show time itself. This gives you time to find a clear railing position and move between levels if your first viewpoint is crowded. Weekend, public-holiday and school-holiday evenings can naturally draw more visitors.

You do not need to stand at the lowest level. Higher levels can give a cleaner view of the roof, waterfall and projections together, while lower levels feel more immersive. If you are taking photos, try more than one level before settling on a spot.
