F1 road closures around Marina Centre and the Padang run from 7 to 13 October 2026. Public transport is the simplest option, with trains running later on all three race days. This guide focuses on practical decisions and uses current official sources available at publication time.
Key Takeaways
- Road closures begin at 12.01am on Wednesday, 7 October and all affected roads are due to reopen by 5.30am on Tuesday, 13 October.
- Last trains on the North-South and East-West lines leave City Hall at 12.30am on Friday and Saturday, and 12.45am on Sunday.
- Driving access changes by day because the 2026 event includes Singapore’s first F1 Sprint weekend.
When the F1 road closures start and end
LTA’s latest race-week reminder confirms that affected roads around the Marina Centre and Padang area will be progressively closed from 12.01am on 7 October 2026. After the race, roads reopen in phases, with full reopening targeted for 5.30am on 13 October.
The closures are not limited to the three race days. Set-up and dismantling mean commuters who work around City Hall, Esplanade, Suntec, Marina Bay and the Civic District should plan for changes across the full seven-day period.
MRT: the simplest way into Marina Bay
LTA strongly encourages the public and ticket holders to use public transport. On race days, train services run later to handle the post-event crowd. The last North-South Line and East-West Line trains leave City Hall at 12.30am on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October, and at 12.45am on Sunday 11 October.
Other train lines are also extended except for the Changi Airport service, and selected connecting bus services run later. If you are catching a final connection, check the operator’s last-train details on the day rather than assuming every branch has the same timing.
Roads that reopen during selected weekday hours
Several road corridors temporarily reopen during weekday peak periods. On 7 and 8 October, selected routes toward Orchard Road, Shenton Way and Marina Boulevard are available from 5.30am to 10am. On 9 October, selected morning corridors also reopen from 5.30am to 10am.
These windows are useful for through traffic, but they do not make the Marina Centre road network “normal”. Expect diversions, security controls and congestion near the circuit. If you do not need to drive into the area, rail is still the more predictable choice.
Marina Centre access lane hours
A single access lane along Raffles Boulevard can be used at specified times via Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard, subject to vehicle restrictions. The opening hours are different on race weekend because of the Sprint schedule.
| Date | Access-lane hours |
|---|---|
| 7–8 Oct | 12am–6am; 10am–5pm; 10pm–12am |
| 9 Oct | 12am–6am; 10am–4pm; 11pm–12am |
| 10–11 Oct | 12am–1pm |
| 12 Oct | 12am–6am; 10am–5pm; 10pm–12am |
| 13 Oct | 12am–5.30am; full reopening after 5.30am |
Taxi and private-hire pick-up points
Taxis and private-hire cars remain useful, but normal kerbside pick-up is not guaranteed around the circuit. LTA designates specific taxi and private-hire points near patron gates and major developments during the closure period.
There is also an S$8 taxi surcharge on trips starting from specified F1-area taxi points and hotel driveways from 9.30pm to midnight on race days. If you are leaving after the concerts or race, compare the walk to an MRT station with waiting for a car in the restricted area.
Can you still park at Marina Centre malls?
LTA states that car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Walk and Marina Square remain open. That does not mean access will be quick: the route into the precinct depends on the day and time, and high traffic volumes can trigger additional restrictions.
For a ticket holder, driving is usually only worth considering if you have a specific accessibility, family or logistics reason. Otherwise, park-and-ride from outside the closure zone is simpler.
A practical race-day transport plan
- Check your ticket zone and gate before choosing the MRT station.
- Arrive earlier than usual because pedestrian routes can be channelled around circuit barriers.
- Screenshot your route in case mobile networks are busy after the race.
- For the trip home, know your final train connection rather than only the City Hall departure time.
- If driving, use LTA’s current F1 road-access map on the day of travel.
